We found out this afternoon that Mike, one of our lecturers, died suddenly last week. He was very loved by everyone, hugely respected and admired. He was my personal tutor and has helped and supported me through so much, from academic panics to pregnancy.

He was an amazing, brilliant and inspirational man, only 44 years old, and it just doesn't seem real that suddenly he's not here any more.

It may seem silly that some of us are so upset about this, but he was a very real presence in our lives and he really will be missed.
